SIP Trunking - Benefits
The Savings Benefit
The first big benefit of using a SIP trunk line is the cost savings. Compared to most other plans SIP trunks can save companies up to 65% or more on their phone bill.
DID or direct inbound dialing allows each phone to have it's own telephone number. Larger companies that use T1 lines already have this capability but usually at a higher cost. Analog lines only support one phone number per line, so this has been cost prohibitive for smaller companies in the past. Please note that your phone system must offer this capability. We recommend Avaya phone systems for companies looking to utilize this feature but there are many other phone systems that can also handle this.
Load Balancing Benefit
Since SIP utilizes the Internet for making and receiving phone calls, you can setup your network to utilize two separate Internet connections if available. This way if one provider goes down your Internet and phone calls can stay up by using a secondary Internet connection.
Reroute Calls Benefit
Having calls on a SIP connection allows a company to easily reroute calls from one center to another. Since SIP trunks do not depend on a physical line coming into your company, making a move to another location is very easily done.
